Kaizen Capital, LLC is a boutique hedge fund specializing in long/short equity and options strategies. The fund takes directional and hedged positions across U.S. equities, using systematic screening and quantitative backtesting to identify opportunities with asymmetric risk/reward profiles — combining fundamental catalysts with technical conviction.
We built the entire technology infrastructure behind the fund — from the public-facing landing page and secure client portal to the AI-driven screening engine, automated trade execution layer, real-time portfolio monitoring, and investor reporting systems. This is an ongoing partnership where we continuously develop, maintain, and evolve the platform as the fund's strategies and AUM grow.
Launching a hedge fund requires institutional-grade infrastructure with a boutique budget. Kaizen needed a system that could screen hundreds of equity and options opportunities daily, backtest them against historical data, generate actionable trading plans, execute with precision, and report performance to investors — all with minimal manual intervention.
Off-the-shelf platforms couldn't accommodate the fund's proprietary methodology. The screening logic, tiering system, position sizing, and risk parameters are all custom to Kaizen's strategy. They needed a technology partner who could translate a quantitative investment process into a fully automated, AI-driven platform — and keep building on it as the fund evolves.
We built a clean, minimal public-facing site that reflects the fund's identity — professional, understated, and intentional. Behind the client login sits the real infrastructure: a secure investor portal with real-time portfolio visibility, capital account statements, and investor reporting.
The admin dashboard gives fund managers a live operational view — current positions, P&L, exposure breakdowns, screening pipeline status, and system health. Portfolio data refreshes every 30 seconds via API integrations with Interactive Brokers (IBKR), pulling live pricing, fills, and account data directly into the platform.
Investors receive automated daily and weekly performance reports, along with real-time SMS and email alerts for meaningful portfolio events — filled trades, margin changes, and material market moves that affect their capital.
At the core of Kaizen's investment process is a proprietary AI screening engine that evaluates up to 500 equity and options tickers every day. The agent pulls market data from OPRA (Options Price Reporting Authority), IBKR, FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data), and other institutional sources, then runs each ticker through a systematic backtesting framework.
Tickers are scored and assigned to a tiered ranking system. As conditions evolve, names move up or down the tiers — progressing from initial watch list through intermediate stages to Tier 1, where the highest-conviction opportunities surface. The AI monitors this progression continuously, tracking momentum shifts and changing market dynamics.
When a ticker reaches Tier 1, the system captures the full backtested data set and generates a structured trading plan — including entry parameters, position sizing based on portfolio heat and volatility, profit targets, and risk-defined exit levels. The plan is delivered to the fund's portfolio managers for review, or in qualifying scenarios, routed directly into the execution pipeline.
Kaizen's platform includes a proprietary automated execution layer that bridges the gap between AI-generated trading plans and live market orders. When a Tier 1 opportunity meets the fund's predefined criteria, the system can route orders directly through the brokerage API — managing the full lifecycle from signal generation through fill confirmation.
The execution agent operates within strict risk guardrails. Every order is validated against current portfolio exposure, position sizing constraints, and real-time Value at Risk (VaR) calculations before submission. The system communicates continuously with the fund's administrators — reporting filled trades, changing market conditions, and any deviations from expected behavior.
This isn't a black box. Fund managers maintain full oversight and can intervene at any stage. The automation handles the speed and precision; the humans set the boundaries and make the strategic calls.
Every aspect of the portfolio is monitored continuously. The platform calculates real-time Value at Risk (VaR), portfolio heat, maximum drawdown, and Sharpe ratio — surfacing risk metrics that institutional allocators expect to see. Sector and correlation analysis ensures the book maintains diversification targets, and position sizing is algorithmically enforced based on volatility and portfolio-level exposure constraints.
The AI agent serves as an always-on operations layer. It reports to fund administrators on market conditions, shifting macro signals via FRED data, filled trades, and any portfolio drift from target parameters. Every trade, adjustment, and system event is logged in a complete audit trail — providing the transparency and recordkeeping that institutional investors and compliance require.
Investors see a polished, simplified view of all of this: a real-time portfolio dashboard that updates every 30 seconds, automated daily and weekly performance summaries, and alerts for events that matter to their capital. The complexity lives in the backend; the client experience is clean and clear.
Kaizen Capital operates on a fully custom technology stack that would typically require a dedicated in-house engineering team. The AI screening engine processes hundreds of opportunities daily, the execution layer handles order routing with institutional-grade risk controls, and the reporting infrastructure keeps investors informed in real time — all running autonomously.
The platform evolves continuously. As the fund's strategies mature and assets under management grow, we build new capabilities, refine the screening models, and scale the infrastructure. This is what a true technology partnership looks like in finance — not a vendor delivering a product, but an embedded team building the engine that drives the business.
